Welcome to College Track Watts
get directionsIn 2015, we opened our Watts center in partnership with the Wasserman Foundation, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, and Green Dot Public Schools.
Our spacious center located on Jordan High School’s campus has served more than 200 high school and college students.
Watts’ predominantly Latinx and African-American youth do not have sufficient access to the opportunities they deserve to graduate from college. Today, less than half of adult residents have a high school diploma, and only 5 percent hold a bachelor’s degree. Our scholars’ commitment to earning a four-year college degree will shift the power dynamics that have kept first-generation students of color from unleashing their full potential.
A View Inside…
At College Track Watts, our students not only build their own futures-they build their own robots too! In addition to a heavy focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), our academic workshops include interactive robotics instruction that incorporates app development, 3D printing, and GIS mapping. Students spend hours working independently or in small groups on their projects. They even compete in local robotics competitions!

Scholar Spotlight: Tyre’onna, Green Dot Animo College Prep Academy
I always knew I was capable of graduating from high school, going to college, and becoming successful. I even knew that I wanted to become a veterinarian! But when it came to understanding how I’d reach these goals, I felt lost and too shy to ask for help. Then College Track showed up at my middle school and talked with us about the program. I immediately applied.
College Track has given me opportunities to become more involved and develop my passions. I get excited about preparing for college and talking with my advisors. I go on college tours–at places like UCLA, USC, and Pomona–and think, “I belong here.”
I am an active and engaged member of my community, eager to earn my degree and prove that a Black girl from Watts can do anything she sets her mind to. I will own my future, knowing that I have College Track to help me along the way.
