College Track in the D.C. Metro Area
The D.C. Metro Area is a profoundly diverse and influential region, yet despite concerted efforts to improve opportunities for students, low rates of college access and completion remain, affecting the life and career outcomes for low-income students of color across the region.
In partnership with the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation and Prince George’s County Public Schools, College Track opened its first East Coast and tenth center in the heart of Kevin’s hometown of Prince George’s County, welcoming students from neighboring Suitland High School.
In January 2020, we partnered with the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) leadership as well as local public and charter schools to open our second center in the region in Southeast D.C.
Today, nearly 300 students across the region are on the path to earning a bachelor’s degree and lending their talents to the region’s vibrant workforce.

“Living in D.C. I see a lot of parallels to my hometown in Oakland. I grew up hearing the narrative that young Black men don’t go to college, let alone achieve a successful career. I look forward to passing the torch to the students here in the D.C. Metro Area, knowing that our shared experience as College Track students is a badge of honor, setting the tone for the future of this country.”
