Being a first-generation, under-resourced student with a deep sense of empathy, she understands the importance of creating safe spaces for students to feel like \"they are allowed to shine.\"<\/span>\r\n\r\nAmy's background drives her passion for advocacy and community empowerment. She channels her roots to advocate for the visibility and dignity of immigrant communities, and she believes in the importance of leadership that empathizes with and uplifts marginalized voices. When asked what kept her rooted, Amy said, \"I'm rooted in so many ways. Roots aren't perfect; they're intertwined. I see my experiences that way.
