At College Track, we\u2019re feeling immense relief, especially given the lack of justice for so many people who\u2019ve lost their lives to police violence throughout our country\u2019s history. Since the start of testimony in this trial alone, at least 64 people have died at the hands of law enforcement nationwide, with Black and Latino people representing more than half of the dead.\r\n\r\nWe\u2019ve faced what felt like an inescapable conclusion of evidence before and been disappointed, but today, our system delivered a unanimous verdict. While the verdict doesn\u2019t give George Floyd his life back or undo centuries of systemic oppression and injustice, we are hopeful it signals the beginning of new progress toward equity.\r\n\r\nBefore there can be healing, there must be accountability, and we have a long way to go before our society celebrates, honors, and affirms Black lives. At College Track, our students matter and we have the power to create a peaceful world based on the ideals of equity and justice.
